A Friend for Life

Sharon and I became friends at Shorter College.  I can't remember originally meeting her, because I guess it seemed like we'd always been friends.  I cannot think of her without thinking of her enthusiasm for life!!  So encouraging and friendly to everybody.  She was a true friend who was never too busy to sit down and have a "serious" heart-to-heart talk, but could be goofy and fun-loving too.  It was the early 90's and we loved Steven Curtis Chapman (went to the concert together), hanging out in the dorms at Shorter, and little shopping trips on Broad Street in Rome.  I still have a Shirley Temple black and white print I bought while we were out one day.  We had a common love of theater, too, and Sharon could always make people smile. We grew especially close our senior year when we lived on the hall in the dorm with Kindra (Adams) Shenoy, Elizabeth McKoy, and Katrina Baldwin.  We had so much fun!  Late night talks and junk food :).  One of my favorite memories was going to Kindra's house for the weekend and just goofing off together- cooking dinner and playing board games while it rained outside.  She was the kind of friend who didn't mind the boring job of helping serve cake at my wedding, because she was happy to help others even though I'm sure she'd have had more fun visiting with friends during the reception instead. She had a servant's heart, and was one of the most genuine people I've ever known.  She loved Christ and let that pour out of her.  It especially made me smile to see her pictures on Facebook dressing up with Hannah, baking cookies with her, and just basically being an amazing and super-fun mom.  Hannah, you have a legacy of joy.  Brad, there are no words right now-  she loved you so much.  I am praying for you both with love.
