Condolence From: Allen & Debra Ferguson
Condolence: Pat, Debra and I offer our condolences, prayers and support to you and the family. I met Barney at Hobgood nearly 20 years ago and his passion for softball was unmistakable. His compassion for people and the game made it impossible not to love him, which both Debra and I did. We will truly miss him. Please let us know if we can do anything for you. God Bless You, Allen and Debra Ferguson

Condolence: Pat, Peggy and I send our sincere Condolences on the passing of a good friend. Barney was always a friend to me and treated me as part of his team. I wish I could have played more with him, but things just didn’t work out. I will miss him very much as all his family and friends will. Please don’t ever hesitate to let us know if we can ever do anything for you. God will have a great coach coming his way. God had a purpose for Barney and he did it graciously.

Condolence: I have known Barney since August 9, 1960 when my family moved across the street from the Greenes. I was 9 and he was the very handsome older brother of my new bff, Brenda, a true friend for life, and because of our friendship, I was blessed to know Barney as well! I recall when he went to Japan while in service, he was so very thoughtful that he brought these beautiful scarves back not only to Brenda, but also for me. What a thoughtful and considerate gentleman, always! Mother and I used to watch him wash and wax his current car at the time, as if it was going to pick up someone of importance, like President, and my Mother declared, “He is going to make someone a great husband!” He was always consumed with positive energy and was a loving and sharing Christian man and I will never forget all the positive things I witnessed him doing with his life. He has drank from the cup of Goodness provided by God and spread God’s greatness in his positive actions and deeds throughout his life. While I thought Barney would again rise to this last life threatening bout with his health as he had done so many, many, times, this time God decided He needed Barney in Heaven more than He felt we needed him here with us! It is up to those of of us left to keep Barney’s Christian spirt alive and continue his legacy of good and thoughtful deeds. He has touch many lives in a very positive way. I will miss Barney being here with us, but I very much look forward to seeing him again in Heaven! I thank the Lord our God for allowing me to know Barney and his entire family! He has been a Living testament of his faith and I will never forget him.

We are so Sorry to hear about Barney. It doesn't seem real. He was larger than Life. Always smiling and scouting for the Time Bandits. You will always be sitting with Pat at Hobgood. You will not be forgotten.

Condolence From: Lida Gregg
Condolence: Although I had not seen Barney in several years, I would continuously keep tabs on him via the Augusta guys who played on his softball team. I always enjoyed it when he came to Augusta. I looked forward to being called "Liler" the whole weekend, with every time he called me that, an infectious, devilish grin coming upon his face. He knew my name exactly but "Liler" was always what he enjoyed calling me and teasing me with. Thoughts, love and prayers go out to his entire family and all of his friends.

Condolence: Hobgood Park and many other fields will seem a little empty and sad without Barney being around. He was always looking for his next "good" player, while enjoying time at the ball park. I appreciate the years I played with and for Barney. He was a good man. Stay strong Pat.
