Reynolds Roosevelt Nelson, age 78, died August 16, 2012 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, GA.

He was born January 6, 1932 in Macon, GA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Louise Nelson and Lucius Henry Nelson, his brother Joseph Edgar Nelson, and his sister Leone Elizabeth Nelson Clark of Woodbine, GA

After graduating from Southern Technical Institute in 1958, he worked with McLendon and Holbrook as a Mechanical Engineer. His career included designing HVAC systems for hotels, schools, nuclear plants, and many other institutions. His thirty year career included employment by Britt Alderman Associates, Aaron Mauldin Associates, Stevens, Wilkinson Architects, and Toombs, Amisano, and Wells – Architects.

He is survived by three sisters, Caroline Nelson, Lucia McGowin, and SaraJo Holmquist; Six nieces, three nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews.

Services are to be held at South Canton Funeral Home Sunday, August 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM. Interment to be held later at Homeward Cemetery in Waverly, GA. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Walhalla Presbyterian Church P.O. Box 917, Walhalla, SC 29691 in his memory.
